Hello Sugars! It's hard to believe how quickly this week is going by! I wanted to show off a few cards and projects I spotted in the Modern Sugar Blvd Design Team Gallery.

The Sugars are the most talented group of designers out there!

Check out this gorgeous card by Michele Roos. Her coloring is just super and the layout and the patterned papers she used make this card really shine!! You can find Precious Dance Scene in the store!

Next I wanted to share this lovely card by Anita Hovey. She created a calm and peaceful card using the Precious Bubble Bath image. This card brings that old slogan to mind: "Calgon, take me away!" Do you remember that one?

And finally this great recipe card holder created by Georgia Ehrmann. It's a terrific solution to all those little recipe cards you pick up at the grocery store, pull out of magazines or copy down from a friend! She used What's Cooking....Mama which is a perfect fit for the theme!

An Interview with Christine Nay

Happy Sunday Sugars!! I'm so excited to get to introduce our July Guest Designer today! Christine Nay from Change of Heart has graciously agreed to share her talents with us this month.

If you've never stopped by Christine's blog, grab your choice of beverage, find a comfortable seat and explore!! She's not only amazingly talented, but has an amazing story to tell as well. Her beauty is more than skin-deep....it flows from her inner soul! I am lucky enough to get to serve on the Flutter By team with her and the first time I visited her blog, I was just blessed so much! I know you will be too!

Tell us about the first time you stamped.

I was living away from home during Christmas 2007 and wanted to do something special (but inexpensive) for my friends and family so I decided to send handmade Christmas cards. I bought a Christmas paper stack, a Cuttlebug, some dies and a few sentiment stamps and made my Christmas cards. I didn’t really start making other cards until I started my blog in January 2009. There was so much inspiration out in blogland and I absorbed everything I could. Now I’m hooked.

What 3 stamp related products can you not live without?

Watercolor paints and pencils, Prisma colored pencils and, lately because of digi stamps, my computer and printer. I think I named more than three but they are all related (hehe).

What is your favorite technique to use?

Water coloring

What process do your follow to create a card?

The first and most important for my creative process is to decide on an image. If I pick an image that fits my mood, the rest is easy. If it’s wrong, the card just doesn’t go together. After deciding on the image, I like to pick a sketch. Sometimes it’s from cards I’ve made in the past, but usually it’s a sketch from one of the many challenges in blogland. I decide on the basic color theme and then pick the paper depending on the colors and sketch. Since I mostly use watercolors, I pick the paper first so that I can match my paint to the paper. As I’m cutting paper and assembling the card, I use a small amount of repositionable adhesive to arrange the card. After I’m happy with it, I turn it upside down and attach one layer at a time with permanent adhesive.

Describe your style for us.

I think my style is eclectic (for lack of a better word). I really haven’t actually found a “style” yet. My favorite images are butterflies, fairies and flowers/gardening. I know what I’m attracted too and I think my favorite cards reflect that. For example, I purchased almost all of the garden/window digi stamps from MSB’s June release. However, I make a lot of my cards based on what I think a recipient (actual or perceived) would like.

I feel like something is missing from a card if it doesn't have

ribbon.

If you won the lottery, what stamp related item(s) would you buy first???

One word, COPICS, in every color!!!

If you knew you were dying, who would you will your crafting supplies to???

I think I would let my sisters and nieces fight over it (he-he). They each have areas of crafting that they enjoy so I don’t think they would argue too awfully much!

If you could attend a stamping party with 3 of your "idols" who would they be?

I think I would have to say Tim Holtz (http://www.timholtz.typepad.com/), then Dawn McVey (http://dawnmcvey.typepad.com/these_are_a_few_of_my_fav/) and Sandra MacLean (http://paperfuntastics.blogspot.com/).Tim has so many amazing techniques. I learn something every time I read his blog. Dawn brings a clean and elegant grace and style to her cards. Sandra uses an amazing water coloring technique on her images. She sent me some of her cards and I was wowed when I saw how she painted her images! She has helped me a lot with my

water coloring style.

What is your favorite MSB image or line?

Along that same line - what MSB image is You?

Okay, I know I have to make everything difficult but you can take that question two ways so I’ll answer it in two ways. The image that is most like me as a person is Precious Hippie Chic. I was born about five years too early to be a hippie but that is what’s in my heart.

The image that is most like my card making style is Potting Shed.

What's your guilty pleasure?

I’m not counting my paper crafting obsession because we all have that. It changes from time to time but right now it is hot fudge sundaes made with cherry ice cream. Yummmy!

Where do you see yourself in 20 years?

I’m at the point in my life now that I’d really like to see myself about the same but with a little more money! However, I would like to have had a card or project accepted by a magazine. That’s my ultimate goal with my little hobby.

Tell me more about you - the basics: family, job, other hobbies/interests, etc. Anything you want people to know about you. Have you ever been published/won a stamping contest, etc.

I’ve been single most of my life and was not lucky enough to have children. I was born and raised in Idaho and moved around quite a bit as a young adult. Then one day I realized it was time to come home!!! I moved back to Idaho and have been very happy here for 16 years with my family. I love the mountains and all of the activities that are part of Idaho. My next favorite hobby (other than cards of course) is music. I belong to the Idaho Old Time Fiddlers in which I play the mandolin. We go to care centers and retirement homes and entertain the residents several times a month. I have been on disability for five years (I had a heart transplant in 2007, yay!) so I have a lot of time to pursue the things I enjoy but not enough money to pursue them all. I would love to travel the world but travel close to home instead and enjoy everyday that I live. Since I have started making cards, this is my favorite activity, but I also love to garden. I love antiquing, thrift store shopping, cooking (which I hardly ever do), camping, reading, and spending time with family and friends, especially my great nieces and nephews.

I asked Christine to share her favorite card or project to date using Modern Sugar Blvd images. Here is what she sent:

Knowing that this collection is her favorite, I'm not surprised!! Be sure to notice the design of the card! I love how she created a scene with the arch and the window images....it feels to me like I'm walking up to a welcoming, joyful home!

Beach Baby, Beach Baby

It's getting H-O-T around here and oh how I wish for the cooling effects of the beach. We don't have one nearby so I'll just dream!!!

I wanted to share with you some of the most amazing projects using our beach-y themed images from our last release! All of today's projects feature the Fun in the Sun Mama and the Accessories set. There are so many ways to use these images and the fact that they are digi makes them easy to manipulate!!

First up is Wendy's creations! She created a really neat scene using a clear card!

And here it is open! Isn't that clever?!?!?!? Just love it!!

Wendy also created this simple but stunning card using just the umbrella from the accessory set!I love how she created the entire scene from her paper and tearing/cutting techniques!

Tenia used the accessory set to create really cute place cards. Wouldn't these be perfect for a picnic at the beach or a backyard pool party? Great idea too to reserve your lounge chair at the pool!

Here's another beautiful and simple card from Tenia! I love the color combo she used as well as the little sentiment tag! A great reminder for all of us during the summer!

Sharon created this beauty for us. I love how the image takes up most of the space on the card --- the ability to size images however you want is a great bonus to digi stamping! She did a terrific job of using all the accessory pieces too! Great scene Sharon!

Rachel also created a neat card using the accessory set. The cool colors she used are perfect for summer!

Hello Sugars! I wanted to share a few more creations with you that our fabulous design team created with our newest releases! Every single designer is sooo talented!!

This first one is by Sue. She used the umbrella image from the Fun in the Sun accessory set. It's a wonderful card showing how to use a smaller sized image and some great paper to create a WOW card!!

Lindsay created this beauty using the Enjoy Your Day Doodler along with the Scooter. I totally want a scooter to coordinate with my outfit now!!

Anita created this lovely card using the Eiffel Tower stamp from the Fresh Picked Whimsy line. I love the angles that she used!

A Heaping TABLESPOON of Sugar this Morning!

Good morning Sugars!! Today is Release Day! The images are being uploaded in the store this morning. I wanted to share some more of the wonderful samples that the design team has created for this release. These are only a few of them - I'll have more to share over the next few days as well!

Sharon used the beach girl and created a wonderful scene using a stair-step card! Great idea Sharon!

Our next card was created by Rachel. I love how her swim suit and sarong are a perfect match to the blue water paper she used! This card makes me want to head off to the pool!

Jana used on of the new accessory images to create this patriotic beauty. What a terrific tribute to our nation's history and beginnings!

This next wonder was created by Lindsay. Her coloring is amazing!!!! The scene she created for the beach ready girl is a perfect backdrop!

Another creation with lots of pattern and color from Jodi! It's a great example of taking an image that may have been created with a certain purpose or "persona" and giving it a slight twist to use for other occasions!

Jana also created our next card -- that's a card and a layout at the same time! How fun!!

Georgia created another wonderful scene using one of the new girls from the It's a Mom Thing line and some accessories!

Here's another new image that we haven't seen much yet! Brandi did a great job of using a busy patterned paper yet the focus is still on the image!

Another Teaspoon: More Sneak Peeks

Hi Sugars!

The Sugars have been busy creating over the last few days and I just want to share more of their awesome creations with you!!

Sue created this clean and simple card using some of the accessory images. The bright colors really scream summer! and the swirl embossing completely captures the essence of ocean waves!

Mary used another image from the It's a Mom Thing line. Now she's a teacher and I luuuhhhve Mary's sentiment that she wrote on the chalkboard! Doesn't that totally take you back to junior high????

Jodi used the same chalkboard but used one of the NEW Doodlers images. Jodi's eye for pattern and colors is truly amazing! It's never too early to start thinking about teacher gifts --- for the beginning of school!

The next card is one of Crystal's creations. She has captured the fun of shopping in Paris!! Looks like she will be needing to find an extra suitcase somewhere to bring all her treasures home!

The final card I want to share with you is by Anita! She used a new image from the Fresh Picked Whimsy line. You'll notice that she stretched it a bit compared to Lisa's card from Monday. That's one of the perks with digital stamps -- you can stretch them, size them, flip them to suit your every whim! This is a great layout that Anita used and her sentiment is just a little "wicked"!

Don't forget that all these images will be available on Thursday, June 25th in the Modern Sugar Blvd store! I'll have some more creations by the BEST design team around tomorrow!

A Teaspoon of Sugar: Some Sneak Peeks

Hello Sugars!!

I have a few more wonderful creations to share with you today --- all of them showcase brand NEW images that will be released tomorrow in the store!! In addition to the great images that you've come to love, we also have some accessory images in this release too!

The first card was created by Tenia; she captured summer perfectly in this card! A wonderful example of letting an image take center stage. The ribbon and sentiment are the perfect embellishments!
Next is another new image from The Doodlers line. Sharon kept the focus on this cute gal too! Clean and simple? Yes! Stunning? YES!! I love all the white space that Sharon used too and how she stamped the sentiment on the same layer as her main image. Just goes to show that you can create a wonderful card with just paper and ink/color! Terrific coloring too!!

Joni created the next project, using an image from the It's A Mom Thing line. Her altered notebook would be a great addition to your purse or a friend's! It seems like we always need a place to jot down a little note and why not make it as special as you?

Georgia created the next two cards using another new addition to The Doodlers line. In this first one, she combined her with one of the gorgeous images from the Life's Simple Pleasures line. Do you see that cute little watering can she is holding? Think of all the possibilities that you could have her holding on to! Her pretty ribbon is a sweet finishing touch to a card that is a work of art!

For her second card, Georgia put a list in her hands. What a sweet way to let someone know just how much they bless your life. Look carefully too and see how Georgia has "sat" her on the couch and propped her feet on the ottoman!

Sugar Spotlight: Lisa Foster

Hi everyone! Hope you are having a Sugarlicious day!!!

A new release of images is coming on Thursday, June 25!! Very exciting stuff going on around here!

I wanted to share the 2 cards that our June Guest Designer Lisa Foster created for us.

On this first card, she combined 2 of the new images to create an enchanting scene! The images are from 2 different lines in the store; I love how she paired them together! Just goes to show that you can use the different lines to work together!

Aren't the clouds amazing!! Totally makes me think of that blue cotton candy you can pick up at the fairs and amusement parks! Another touch I love is how the polka dotted ribbon is perfectly coordinated with the young ladies dress!

Lisa's next card features an adorable little dress. As women we all know what an important staple the little black dress is in our wardrobe. Lisa has such an eye for color that she's made it a little red dress!! I am in luuuuhhhhve with the flower gem she put on it --- makes me think of a big, sparkly, vintage brooch --- one of my favorite accessories!

An Interview with Lisa Foster

Happy Sunday everyone!!

I wanted to share with you a little "interview" that our June Sugar, Lisa Foster, completed with us!

First, isn't she GORGEOUS? Your smile is so lovely Lisa and while I've never met you, I feel your smile burst out of my computer every time I read your blog or an email!

Tell us about the first time you stamped.

I went to a Stampin’ Up! Party at a friends house having no clue about what stamping even was! As soon as I saw the beautiful cards the Demo had made, my jaw was on the floor. After she showed us how she’d made those amazing cards, I was hooked!!! Now I’m hopelessly addicted with no chance of recovery!

What 3 stamp related products can you not live without?

I love color, so definitely I couldn’t live without my Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils. I also would be very lost without my Cuttlebug!

What is your favorite technique to use?

My favorite technique is masking, because I love to build scenes with the images.

What process do your follow to create a card?

Gosh, I wish I had a “process”. It depends on if I’m doing a challenge, or just making a card. If it’s a challenge, Of course I begin there, if it’s something on my own, I usually start with the image or images, then choose color, layout and lastly embellishments.

Describe your style for us.

I don’t think I really have a style per se. I consider myself an eclectic stamper. I like all types of art, so I suppose that reflects in my own crafting.

If you won the lottery, what stamp related item(s) would you buy first???

Wow, that is a really tough question because I truly do want it all…LOL. I think I would buy the rest of the Copic markers that I don’t currently own.

I love all of the MSB images, but my favorite MSB image is Girly-Girl Rain Boots.

The Girly-Girl Rain boots ARE SO me…Feminine, Rugged and Funky all at the same time!

What's your guilty pleasure?

Ice Cream for sure!

Where do you see yourself in 20 years?

Still hiding Hobby Lobby receipts from my husband…LOL

I have a wonderful, very supportive husband, Ed. WE have 2 kids, Kurt and Katie, who are both currently serving in the US Army. We have 1 gorgeous granddaughter, Holly, who is 20 months old. I work as a nurse in an outpatient surgery center. My husband and I are both avid motorcyclists and snowmobilers (yes, I ride my own). You’d be surprised how much stamping stuff you can fit on a motorcycle…LOL.

I am currently on the Jessica Lynn Original and Beary Box Design Teams. I’ve never published, but I hope to be one day.

Modern Sugar Blvd is having a BIG Release Party on Thursday, June 11th. You can find out all the details HERE IN THIS POST regarding how you can win the ENTIRE new release!! Go check it out if you haven't already!

We are ALL so excited and can't wait to see you there. So here's the list to choose your Bingo words from. Since this is Virtual Bingo, no one can see your card so there is no worries of getting words all in a row, or a postage stamp or all the crazy ways you can play Bingo. Simple blackout bingo - winner gets the entire new release!!

Modern Sugar Blvd. - Challenge #5

WOW...How the weeks fly by! Hope everyone is doing great and is having a great weekend! This week we were challenged by one of the design team members to create a card. This DT challenge was brought to us by Mary..... And her challenge
is...ding dong ding dong " Card Wedding". What it basically translates into is... Something old- so go through your paper scraps or ribbons Something new- this where the digi stamps come in Something borrowed- so this would be something that was given by a friend Something blue- pretty self explanatory.

The next big release of sugary sweet images is coming on Thursday, June 11th. The design team has been hard at work, creating samples using the new images. There are 8 new images in this release and one lucky stamper will win the ENTIRE RELEASE! How's that for a Sweet Treat?

This will be our first Big Release Party and it will be SO MUCH FUN! This is a release party that you won't want to miss!

Get ready for a Virtual Girls Night Out Bingo Party!!

WHEN: Thursday, June 11th

TIME: 9 p.m. - Midnight EST

WHERE: Modern Sugar Blvd PCP Group

WHAT: Bingo, Chit Chat, Challenges, Prizes

We will be playing Virtual Bingo at the Release Party. The Grand Prize Winner will take home the ENTIRE NEW RELEASE - 8 images total!!

How to Play Virtual Bingo Online:

First, let's define what a "card" is in Virtual Bingo. In regular bingo you have a card with 25 squares and you match up the rows and columns (B1, etc) to get 5 in a row.

In virtual bingo, there is not an actual card - it's a LIST of 25 words. You can keep it in LIST form or you can put it in a grid form like a traditional bingo card. However, since it's virtual and you can't see participant's cards - there is no need to worry about getting 5 in a row or anything like that. FIND THE LIST HERE!

The winner is the first person to mark off all 25 words on her "card". It's basically blackout bingo.

We'd love for you to join us! Here's what you need to do before the Party Kicks Off at 9 pm EST on June 11th!

1. A List of Bingo Words will be posted at the MSB blog. FIND THEM HERE!

2. Select 25 words from the list and keep it in a safe place.

3. Email your list of 25 words to SugarBingo@gmail.com at any time but no later than 8:55 pm EST on the night of the release party Bingo. Please have your full name as the Subject of your email.

4. Join us in the MSB Group over at PCP on June 11th. The first 5 Bingo words will be called at 9pm EST. Words will continue to be called, 5 words at a time, throughout the evening, about every 15 minutes or so.

5. The first person to yell BINGO on the PCP chat page will win ("cards" will be pulled up and verified). The prize: the entire 6-11 Release!!! Winner may substitute images from the store in the event that she has already purchased any of the new images.

6. Anyone who wants to participate will get one "card" (or list of 25 words) for the Bingo. You can earn additional "cards" by shopping at the MSB store any time during the week. The more "cards" you have, the better chance you have of winning! You earn an additional "card" by shopping in the store prior to the Bingo party. For every $10 in images you purchase you will receive an additional card . Your bonus "cards" still need to be completed and emailed to the Bingo email (SugarBingo@gmail.com) by 8:55 EST on the night of the release party Bingo.

There will be lots of fun chatter and a few challenges too! Come spend a few hours with The Sugars. Other prizes will be given away throughout the Release Party as well!

The design team will be sneak peeking over the next several days so be sure to visit The Sugars and see some little snippets of what is to come!

Let's all kick up our heals together for the brand new digital image that is being released TODAY! Aren't these boots just too cute for words? I'm LOVING them! The design team really did a WONDERFUL job this week on all of their cards. We didn't really have a set challenge all we had to do is use the cute little boots and just be creative. So for this weeks challenge we want you to be creative and think outside the box maybe challenge yourself and use one of the design team card's for inspiration.
