Fond Farewell: Rachel Henahan

We are approaching the end of our first term with the Modern Sugar Blvd Design Team. Those gals we affectionately call "The Sugars". Every Sugar is so talented and their creations have been much appreciated over these last several months.

Some of the Sugars are continuing on but several of our Sweet Girls are stepping down, due to other commitments that they had already made. We will greatly miss having them design with us each month. Of course, we'll still be keeping an eye on them, checking them out and cheering them on in their future endeavors - that's just what Sugars do, after all. I feel like it's kinda like the Marines: "Once a Sugar, Always a Sugar!"

I wanted to give each gal a Fond Farewell here on the blog and hope that you'll enjoy a bit of insight into who she is and leave her some love at the end!

Rachel Henahan

I first ran into Rachel in blogland over as Paper Makeup Stamps was launching. She is a sweetheart and of course, wonderfully talented. She is currently recovering from gall bladder surgery and all of us Sugars are thankful her surgery went well, praying for her continued recovery and that she'll continue to feel better and better with each day. Keep up posted Rachel!

I asked each of the designers to answer a few questions and I share Rachel's interview with you now!

MSB: What is your favorite thing about digi stamps?

Rachel: I love the convenience and the flexibility of sizing and editing your images!

MSB: What MSB image is YOU - represents you, your style, your personality, your soul, your interests, etc.

Rachel: I am the Yoga Mama! So zen, yet stylish! Ha. Well, I like to think I am stylish!

MSB: What color combo is your favorite?

Rachel: Brown... with just about anything!

MSB: What is your favorite technique?

Rachel: I am not sure if is a technique, but it should be. I think Copic should be a noun and a verb! So I copic on just about every card. I am an addict. (MSB: I bet Copic agrees! And lots of other designers as well. And I definitely think it's a technique and a SKILL!!!)

MSB: And finally 2-3 of your favorite creations using MSB images.

Valerie Urtiaga

MSB: What is your favorite thing about digi stamps?
Valerie: I'm just loving digital images...there is more room in my craft room for other goodies and I also like how you can make them your own size!
MSB: What MSB image is YOU - represents you, your style, your personality, your soul,
your interests, etc.
Valerie: The image that best represents me is from the precious pretties digital stamp called Precious Prayer because I have a huge belief in prayer.
MSB: What color combo is your favorite?
Valerie: I love to many combos but if I HAVE to choose one it's gotta be pink, black/brown and white.
MSB: What is your favorite technique?
Valerie: Right now I'd have to say my favorite technique is adding dimension to a card whether it be glitter, ribbon, buttons, embossing on my big shot.
MSB: And finally 2-3 of your favorite creations using MSB images.

Fond Farewell: Anita Hovey

We are approaching the end of our first term with the Modern Sugar Blvd Design Team. Those gals we affectionately call "The Sugars". Every Sugar is so talented and their creations have been much appreciated over these last several months.

Some of the Sugars are continuing on but several of our Sweet Girls are stepping down, due to other commitments that they had already made. We will greatly miss having them design with us each month. Of course, we'll still be keeping an eye on them, checking them out and cheering them on in their future endeavors - that's just what Sugars do, after all. I wanted to give each gal a Fond Farewell here on the blog and hope that you'll enjoy a bit of insight into who she is and leave her some love at the end!

Anita Hovey

MSB: What is your favorite thing about digi stamps?
Anita: The versatility! Being able to change the size or direction, being able to use only parts of the image. And, of course, the amount of storage :)
MSB: What MSB image is YOU - represents you, your style, your personality, your soul, your interests, etc.
Anita: I am "I totally support you". I love to do charity work, support friends in new ventures, support my kids at school, etc. I think of myself as a very supportive person.
MSB: What color combo is your favorite?
Anita: That's a tough one. I love bright colors...Hot Pink, Lime Green & Orange is one of my favs, but I also like the classic simplicity of Black & Pink, Black & Red or Black & Yellow...can I have 4 favs? (MSB: absolutely!!)
MSB: What is your favorite technique?
Anita: I'm not a big technique person, really. I think a lot of times techniques actually take the focus away from the image/sentiment of a card. However, paper piecing is fun...and especially easy with digi images.
MSB: And finally 2-3 of your favorite creations using MSB images.

Anita: This Much
My absolute fav creation for MSB! I love this one because this is what my DDs and I say at night...we make a big joke about it to see who can spread their arms wider.

Anita: Deserve a Break
I like this card because it really gives the feeling of a comfy coffee shop break. It's also a great example of paper piecing (the chair).
Anita: Cake
I love the bright colors of this card. I made the sentiment myself and it just makes me giggle. (MSB: Me too! I love it!)
Anita: I'd like to thank the gals at MSB for choosing me...they were the first ones to give me a chance to be on a design team and I am very grateful to have had the experience.
Thank you Anita for sharing your talents with us these past few months. We've loved the creativity you've brought and wish you all the best in your future endeavors!

MSB: What MSB image is YOU - represents you, your style, your personality, your soul, your interests, etc.

Mel: Oh! Tough question, as I can identify with so many images. I love Pam West's designs. Her windows and garden-scapes are so beautiful. I love the Around the Town line - the shops were my first purchase. And then there's the Doodlers - love that line because it's so carefree, yet personal.

MSB: What color combo is your favorite?

Mel: My favorite color combo is pretty much anything with Chocolate Brown... pink and brown, blue and brown, orange and brown.

MSB: What is your favorite technique?

Mel: My favorite technique changes daily. I think if I have to pick it would be Clean & Simple.

MSB: Share with us a few of your favorite MSB creations.

JONI WILSON

I first discovered Joni through the Club Anya goings on and was instantly wowed by her artistic talents. For me, it was right about the time that she started doing the townhouses and I loved them. Joni has a sweet spirit that just shines through in her writing and I can imagine that talking with her is exactly the same!
SO - you can imagine how excited I was when she applied for the Modern Sugar Blvd team. And created one of those terrific townhomes with an MSB image too! Remember this?
It's been a delight having Joni as one of our very first designers. Thank you so much Joni for sharing your talent with all of us. We wish you all the best in your future crafty endeavors. We will miss you.
I asked each of the designers to answer a few questions and I share Joni's interview with you now!
Joni: Hi Cassie! This is such a sweet idea, thank you so much for celebrating our DT time, as I am sad to leave the Blvd. :(
MSB: What is your favorite thing about digi stamps?
Joni: My favorite thing about digis are its convenience. It's so easy to print out a sheet of perfect images! I also love that it is eco-friendly and takes up a small spot on my craft table in a flash drive. :D
MSB: What MSB image is YOU - represents you, your style, your personality, your soul, your interests, etc.
Joni: The MSB image that I associate myself with is On The Go Mama. With 6 kids, this is so familiar to me. ;) (MSB: And have you seen her precious kiddos? Beautiful and Exotic!) And I absolutely love Pam West's images as I love gardening and flowers.
MSB: What color combo is your favorite?
Joni: My favorite color combo is anything with bright bold colors. Life is too short to be dull. (MSB: OH! What an awesome attitude to have towards life!)
MSB: What is your favorite technique?

Challenge #12: Shaped Cards

Good afternoon Sugars! It's time for another Sweet Saturday Challenge!

This challenge is brought to you by Melissa! She wants it to be a shaped card. Everybody can do rectangles and squares and the design is classic... a staple in card making, but shapes adds interest... encourages out of the box thinking. Use any MSB digi image that has been released!!

Wendy used our What's Cooking Mama to create an adorable apron shaped invite!

Tenia created this sweet circle card using the Little Deer image from the Once Upon a Time collection.
Sharon's baby onesie is adorable! I love how she used one of the images from Popsicle Craze - I would've never thought of that but it's perfect!
Melissa used this precious image, Little Moments, from our Once Upon a Time collection. This file folder is a great way to give something special.
And the inside of Melissa's file folder card
Mary also created a baby theme card. She used the Twinkle Bunny image on this darling baby bib!
The Potting Shed image is the perfect image for Joni's house card!
I Totally Support You Mama is perfect for any message you want to send. Georgia paired her with a star and created a terrific graduation card!
The inside of Georgia's card
Crystal's record is the perfect base for the Precious Dance Scene
Welcome Home, from the Life's Simple Pleasures collection is lovely on this octagon card designed by Christine Nay, our July Guest Designer.

Aren't those all wonderful?!?!
We'd love to see your shape cards too! Think outside the box and show us your creation!! Upload a link to your card in the comment section. One participant will win 2 free digi images!!

Problems with internet...

We're currently having some problems with the Internet and can't seem to upload the pictures... They are working on this problem and we hope that it will be fixed by tomorrow.. If not we will at least add the names of the digi images to the site as I know some are really wantinggggggggggg this release now.... So keep your fingers crossed that they fix it by tonight...

And........Due to the technical difficulties.. We'll be having a sale... Whoooooooo hooooo... I loveeee sales...

Is it Nighttime yet?

The new images will be released tonight in the store!! I can hardly wait!

To help pass the time, here are some more of the NEW images being released this month!

First up is this terrific scene card by Lindsay. She used 2 new images on this one: the house and the SuperMama! First, I love that glittery cape. Second, I love her expression! It's so either
a) don't think about messing with my family
or
b) i brought you into this world, i can take you out!
(a very popular saying by the mom of one of my good friends growing up!)

Lindsay also created this great card using our new Lemonade image. Lemonade is the drink of summer; pink lemonade being my personal preference. Of course, there's nothing like a little cocktail either and this card makes me think of Long Island Iced Teas. Yum!!
Isn't all that glitter so great!?!?
Next up is our Hoodie Mama image. Mary created this fun card and her use of pattern is awesome! I am blown away at her talent!! She used 2 very busy patterns and still the image is the focus!

Sharon also has a sample for us today using Hoodie Mama. What a great card to encourage someone. I love the sentiment she paired with Hoodie Mama and the soft patterns she used!
This is also a great way to see the wonderful versatility of digital stamps - you can size them to be whatever works best for your project!

Another new image this month is our Dance image. Sharon created this beautiful and elegant tag/wall-hanging! Her layout is wonderful and so calm and serene!

That's it for now! Don't forget that all these wonderful images will be available later tonight in the store!
There's also still time to create something for our challenge this week - it's a sketch one! You could win 2 free digi images! Link up your project by Friday! ~Cassie

Check back later tonight...

Don't you just loveeeeeee all of the creations that the Design Team and our Guest Designer have created... We doooooo....

Check back tonight as we release the digi stamps in the store...

Have a great day.....

In the Spotlight - Christine's Creations

Good Morning! It's release day!!! Have you been enjoying the samples this week by the design team?

Today I want to feature the samples created for us by our guest designer this month, Christine Nay.

Here is her card using the new Growing Up image. Isn't his expression darling?!?! As the mother of a 2 year old boy, I can just imagine what he's thinking! I love Christine's use of buttons and that die cut camper!

Next I want to share with you the card Christine created using the new Reach image. Luuuhhhve it! I love how she has the trio of butterflies and the way she carried the Flutter By theme all the way through her card! It's just beautiful!!

Finally I have a calendar that Christine created using our Support Bracelets image. It's a terrific color combo and I love how she used that Doodle girl image too! All those little calendar icons are so cute!

There are more details including close up shots over on Christine's blog of this calendar. Please swing by there to see them and leave her some love!

A few more Sugar Sneaks

Hello Sugars!

I wanted to share some more creations with you from the design team using new images that will be released tomorrow - Thursday, July 23rd!

The first one I'm sharing today is a new one you haven't seen here yet! I think it's incredible and I love how Wendy and Tenia both got such different feelings out of the same image!

Here is Wendy's card: isn't that torn paper beach/water/sunset SO COOL?? YES!!

And then here is Tenia's version. Much subtler colors and soothes my soul! Notice they both put her in a green shirt!

The next set of images I wanted to share are our new Lipstick image. I just love being a girl and all that fun stuff! Lipstick is very girly and to me is Powerful and Sassy and Fun and Sexy!

This first card is Mary's creation. If you know me, you know I'm a FAN of anything polka dotted - especially if it's black polka dotted! It's the perfect backdrop to her card too! Look at all those wonderful shades of lipstick! How fun would this be for a invite to a makeover party or for a friend that sells makeup products?

Up next is Sharon's card using the lipstick image as well. Again love the colors - and notice the shading she added with her white gel pen.
I totally agree with the sentiment that she used. Every single one of us is beautiful.
I hope you feel beautiful today!!

Next is our Growing Up image -- perfect for the little boys in your life. We've gotten some great comments on this image.

First is Crystal's card, using that tried and true sentiment. I think it's a perfect pairing with this image! And how clever is she to add a puppy dog tail to the little guy? I KNOW! Huh!?!?!

Too, too cute Crystal! Mary also created a sample using the Growing Up boy. Isn't he the sweetest? It's a great layout and the patterned paper she paired with him is soooo boy!! Her sentiment is almost the same as Crystal's. I guess it's not so cliche!!! *grin*

The new Reach image is another personal favorite. Crystal created another stunning card using her in a completely new way to me! I love this card! Everything about it! Just so you know!! Support bracelets were made popular several years ago by Lance Armstrong. If there is a cause out there, they have colors to show support for it. What a great image that you can use over and over again to show your support for those causes near and dear to your heart.

Tenia created this first card* and I love all the pink! The image is framed beautifully by that flower and the sentiment of "hope" is just perfect. Short, but oh, what power!!
*Actually, now that I think about it - maybe it's a notepad since there is a pen in the picture!
Wendy created this beauty using the same Support image and again, the concept of HOPE. She shows off some mad cutting skills and I love how the ribbon is tied through one of the bracelets.

The last images I have for now is of Hoodie Mama. Totally relate to this girl. I don't actually own very many hoodies, but I love the casual look they have. And the one I do own is a favorite!

Tenia created this card and I think all that white with the pop of blue is terrific! Lots of interest too in all the different flowers that she used - not everything has to match perfectly every time to look stunning!! Hoodie Mama Looks Good and so does this card!

Next up is another creation by Wendy; her blond Hoodie Mama has got some serious sass going on! The gems and ribbon are such pretty touches without overpowering her terrific image!

That's all from me for now! Don't forget that these images and more will be released tomorrow in the store! Be sure to check back!

Leave some love for these awesome designers!! And tell us what new image is your favorite!!

Have a beautiful day Sugars! ~Cassie
